چکیده

Seibert (1930) found that the tuberculin proteins of the three varieties of tubercle bacillus could be distinguished by the precipitin test. If this method could be adapted for identifying tubercle bacilli, it would be preferable to animal inoculation. The behavior of the tuberculin proteins of acid-fast bacteria in the precipitin test is interesting not only as a possible means of identification of the bacilli, but also because the proteins and their derivatives are apparently the active agents in tuberculins.

The Identification of proteins present in culture filtrare of Mycobacterium tuberculosis DT and comparison with human tuberculin proteins by electrophoretic methods

Abstract Background and objectives: Tuberculin is the proteins existed in tuberculosis culture medium which precipitated by trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or ammonium sulfate. Tuberculin is used for diagnosis of Tuberculosis. The aim of this study is to compare the human tuberculin produced by Razi Institute and Mycobacterium tuberculosis Culture Filtrate Protein. Material and Methods: Initially By...

The Specific Cytotoxic Action of Tuberculin in Tissue Culture

Tuberculin from the human and from the bovine type of tubercle bacilli inhibits the growth of cells from explants of bone marrow, spleen and testes of tuberculous guinea pigs, and is toxic for these cells, but has no effect on explants of the same tissues from non-tuberculous animals. "Tuberculin" from other acid-fast bacteria has no inhibitory or toxic action on explants of tissues from either...

Investigation of Acid-Neutralizing Property of Bacillus cereus GUF8

Extreme pHs, especially acidic pHs, are among the environmental stresses that some bacteria face. The most important strategies that bacteria employ for acid adaptation include either production of acidophilic proteins, or raising the pH of the microenvironment by secretion of basic compounds including ammonia produced by the action of urease. Considering the importance of acid-neutralizing bac...

Isolation, characterization, and biological properties of a tuberculin-active peptidoglycan isolated from the culture filtrate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

A water-soluble tuberculin-active peptidoglycan (TAPG) with a molecular weight of ca. 28,000 to 30,000 was isolated from the culture filtrate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TAPG was approximately four to five times more potent than tuberculin purified protein derivative S in guinea pigs sensitized with M. tuberculosis or M. bovis (freeze-dried BCG). It showed little or no cross-reactivity at a ...

A Chemical Study of the Specific Elements of Tuberculin

1. The specific precipitin reaction and the skin reaction given by old tuberculin are attributable to two separate substances present in this material. The cause of the reaction first mentioned is a non-protein gum which will be fully described in the following paper. The cause of the skin reaction is probably but not surely a protein. 2. Methods which have been suggested for the standardizatio...
